Oxford University Press set us two books to create covers for. They were of differing genres. A teen spy thriller and a heartfelt story about refugees. Both of these books featured strong BAME (Black Asian Minority Ethnic) characters which resonated deeply with me.
During this project I wrote an article about the significance of having BAME characters to look up to in children's books, compared to my experience of having little to no BAME characters to relate to growing up. This article was then featured in the University of Readings 'Promoting Racial Justice in Teaching and Learning'.
